Ep 004 - Best Technique, No Show for Exam & Obligations during Bar Prep.
This fourth episode of BEDP, we answer a broad question which asks about the BEST Bar Study techniques. First, we discuss an overlooked requirement in bar prep - adequate sleep. Right after the discussion of adequate sleep, I get into the driving principle behind the Bar Exam Drills iOS app and why it addresses the fatal weakness in bar prep that no other bar preparation system has addressed. This principle then results in the answer to what is the BEST Bar Study technique.
The next question is asking about ramifications to not showing up for the bar exam after you have registered with the State Bar to sit for it. I point out another benefit to BED in the sense that you can set a goal for how far you advance in BED by the registration deadline, and if you can’t make it, it means that your pace is likely not quick enough for the next exam, but perhaps for the bar exam administration after that.
Lastly, we answer a question about going to a best friend’s wedding and the amount of detriment it would have on studying for the bar exam. Feelings of resentment in failure of the exam towards the best friend are also broached. To show a deep relatability of the issue, I show a picture of my daughter from 2015 in which she experienced a water park for the first time. It really strikes an emotional chord with me as I recall one of my many attempts and chose to not go with my wife and my daughter to the water park, and to study instead to “ensure” that I pass the upcoming bar exam. TLDR - just go. A few hours will NOT do anything to your preparation for the bar exam, and in fact, may relax you and give you a much needed respite from your studies.
